We are currently recruiting two PhD students to join the group with immediate start or in Spring 2027. You will tackle fundamental problems in multiscale and nonlocal mechanics, wave propagation, heterogeneous media, and spatiotemporal material systems. Using homogenization, mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and scientific computing (including machine-learning and data-driven methods where appropriate) you will uncover new physical behavior, develop predictive theories across scales, and translate those insights into principles for designing novel material architectures.
Prior research experience in these specific areas is not required. I am looking for students who are genuinely curious about mechanics and materials, enjoy mathematical and computational problem solving, and are interested in developing new ideas at the interface of mechanics, applied mathematics, materials science, and computation.
